Has anyone found a way to make the rear drum of a Commando works? I remember seing a Swedish guy producing a aluminium brake plate more solid than the stock one (less deformation) but cannot find his contact anymore.
I am thinking of a disk on the rear but maybe there is an easier and cheaper way?
Thanks
Philippe

Commando rear brake

Philippe,

The Commando brake works poorly for a couple of reasons. The brake shoes typically are not set "arced" to the brake drum and the cable actuation is poorer than the brake rod used on the featherbed models. Not much you can do about the cable, but setting up the brake properly will give fairly good results. If you're in Europe I don't have a good recommendation. Vintage Brake in Sonora California is very good at setting up old motorcycle brake for racing and road use.
