Where is the best place to have a set of old Amals resleeved and is there an average cost?

Bigbird
You could try Bruce. He is a regular here on this forum. (bchessell) PM him and he can quote you a price with shipping instructions. He does good work. About two weeks turn arround.
I have had my amals repaired by him. 3 sets.

I had one done by Triton Machining, but I heard they closed shop or at least took it offline to reduce the load. Great work and great price.

I'll second Lund Machine as a good place to have this done.

I had my carbs re-sleeved by them a few months ago and after 2,000 miles, everything is as it should be with my Amal Concentrics. Good price and very quick turnaround.

The guy at (fornerly) Lund did mine. The notch for the throttle screw was off slightly on one of the sleeves, but a little fine file work and everything was copacteic.

Bruce, here's a prayer for comfort and good rehab for your wife. Thanx for all your very good quality work on my stuff over the years. I appreciate it.

By the way, are you still doing disc skimming & drilling? Also, were you able to overcome the headaches of getting cylinder heads in and out for repair? The first one you did for me was excellent.

I resleeved my Amals but they still worked like amals. So I developed some flat slide 32mm Keihin/PWK carbs for Nortons and there is no comparison. They work perfectly from idle to redline. The flat slides I offer are so cheap and work so well that Amals just don't make sense anymore.

They are about $150 each depending on the type of aircleaners, manifolds and cable bits etc. The photo below shows them on an Atlas but I have curved manifolds for Commandos as well. Best of all - these flat slides don't rattle like some others do. Also available in single carb setup with two to one manifold. They are not on my website yet but should be in a couple weeks at JSmotorsport.com

I have had several Monobloc and Concentric Amals sleeved by Andy Hardan and he has always done a great job and the carbs work beautifully

Andy did one for me and I plan on sending two or three more. I also had some done locally and they are excellent as well, but the dude is a crook and I think I got lucky once. I have heard Bruce in Canada does great work, but I didn't want to hassle with all of the shipping requirements into Canada. The only question I have is about long term sleeving. What if I want another slide done for the same carb, can it be matched? Is the body is good for more than one bore?

Shipping to Canada was absolutely no problem. Bruce will tell you how to do it.
