Steve if it doesn’t work as is, why fit an oil separator? The oil tank is an oil separator anyway ?

Oil separator is an option, I think it will work fine as is. That is the reed valve, vertical 1/2" pipe routed over the carbs to breather tank under seat. Bit paranoid about oil tank splitting again. I first noticed going into a corner when the rear let go, the belly pan did its job but there was oil on the track which is not a good thing.
I think most of the oil will stay in the crank due negative pressure, the vertical 1/2" pipe should act as oil condenser, whatever is in there will drain back into the sump at the end of the race. I have a transparent pipe on there at the moment to see what is going on, if all good will put a more permanent HD oil pipe. That's the theory anyhow.

See how it goes.

But FWIW I think you’re over thinking it. The oil tank breathes to a catch bottle anyway (or should) so the tank can’t pressurise even if the engine breather is routed into it. This is especially so with the reed valve fitted as there so little gas movement.

The main Achilles heal of alloy oil tanks is vibration and construction. So, so long as it’s well made (seams in the right places etc) then all you can do is take extreme care with mounting it to ensure maximum support, maximum vibration protection, and zero stress.

You are probably right Nigel, I will probably come full circle and be reconnected to the oil tank at some point. Will have the kit to modify in the field as that is where it will all become self evident, hoping to do a track day before the first meeting.........now where did I put the exhaust baffles!

I have had hours of fun with the oil system on this bike. I initially ran two oil hoses, one from the crankcase a la Maney and one from the timing case into a modified oil tank. It eventually cried enough and split, either excess pressure, vibration or both. End of last year I ran the lines directly to the breather tank and you are right oil went in there (about 250ml after 20min race) Had to empty between races, not ideal. I have a JS Motorsport reed valve installed now, I closed off the timing case breather, the bike does not wet sump per say although obviously there is some oil in the bottom of the crankcase. Plan is to see how I go with this set up. I have had an air/oil separator fabricated which I can put above the reed valve, if either do not work I can plumb back into oil tank. Thanks for the input, it’s appreciated.

I have issues with breathers on my race bike, because it is oil in frame and short on breather and oil connections. I would like to add a separate feed for the breather to 'tank', but I need to strip the bike and take it a better bronze welder than we have here in Normandy!
