Very educational to take in Pete and so tempting to me with the accerator kick in the pants too. Likely rather bad for rear tire life though.

I don't think the accelerator pump comes into play all that much except for cranking on the throttle at higher speeds. It actually needs to be tuned to come on later as to not soot up the system around town. I believe this is also common with the Dual Keihins as well.

Hm Ok Pete I only know how much I liked the double pumper carbs on my V8's and have wondered about a shot of Commando propane for deep down low throttle snap response. Can't dump NOS until in hi rpms so not that much interest to me. I've had some surprising powerful craft and 2 of em Norton twins to wonder if you experience much tire slippage and mileage awareness to enjoy or avoid.

Of course it's alway important to look for loose stuff at intersection and with the now lower gear this is even more profound. I get more clutch squeel than anything else. They are fresh pates so that may subside or maybe not. It's an awesome runner. Just came in from 50 mile jaunt in the country roads. 55 degrees today.

i have to say the tm40 flatslide on my 750 commando is one of the best upgrades i have ever done (many thanks to Pete V and others on this forum) i have run my norton on the original worn out 32mm mk1 concentrics a pair of brand new 32mm mk1 concentrics a single 32mm CV mikuni round slide a single mk1 32mm concentric a single 34mm VM mikuni a 36mm VM mikuni i would say none these matched the tm40 for all round performance especially in the midrange from a rock solid tickover too way beyond 7000rpm if you let it, ive done around 2000 miles since fitting it i bought the carb to use instead of the lake fuel injector on my drouin but after trying it out and being so pleased with the way it runs i have left it alone and started playing with another toy (920 norton engine + drouin supercharger) so at least when it blows up i will still have the 750!!! ,,,,,,,,,,,,,baz

So baz did you cut out the webbing on your frame too?
I had a tm36 that I was ever so keen to fit but without hacking the frame, she wouldn't fit.
Went with the round slide which is ok I suppose.
I've to date used
Amal mk1 32mm x 2
Pwk 32mm x 2
Pwk 34 x2
Mikuni vm36 x 1
The mikuni is the workhorse. Reliable and strong but nowhere near the snap throttle response of the 34mm pwk.

when i got the bike the previous owner had removed the webb from the frame and chrome plated the whole frame !!! it was rusty and flaking off what a mess ,,,,,,,,,,,baz

Pete

Can you just disconnect the accelerator pump and will it run just as well?

Isn't there an en-enrichening valve for a choke?

Will the enrichening valve stay open for starting or do you need a cable?

I have not tried totally disconneting it, but I have reduced the early actuation. It can and will soot up when blipping the throttle if set too high. I believe this is also true with the FCR's. I do not know how it would run without it. If I decide to try it, I will let you know how it goes.

Yes, just like the VM's but sutuated differently.

it is a detent type function. I but I believe you can get a cable conversion, if that was your preference.
That being said, cranking the trhottle a few times before kicking will also do the trick eliminating the need for the enrichener for the most part. Always a one kicker in conjunction with the mag.

Just out of interest what do you get to the gallon out of yours Pete? i get 55mpg around country lanes and 46mpg at motorway speeds between 80 and 90mph this is with a cockpit fairing fitted and in UK gallons ,,,,,,,,baz

Hi Baz,
I haven't really checked the mileage yet but I fell it's pretty good. Totally exceptable.
When I ran the Tm34 it was really really good.
