Hello -

I'm rebuilding the front suspension on my '74 - new bushes, seals and installing lansdowne dampers. The springs look ok visually - no rust or pitting with about 10,000 miles on them. The bike hasn't moved much since 1983 other than around the garage or shed to make room for other things. Do these springs relax over time? Would it be necessary to replace them?

Measure the free length of the springs?

Unless they are noticeably shorter than 18.687" (474.65mm) then they should be OK.
