Queen gone!

In Australia, most of us speak English, so we believe we understand what the British are saying, The truth is, the Britsh might just as well be speaking in Swahili. Until recently, I did not realise that when they referred to 'the city', they were talking about a small enclave in London, which is known as 'The City Of London'. It is the financial centre and has it's own laws and police force, It was ser up under William The Conquerer. What is said there if often full of innuendo and subtlety. My friend who died last year, was an ex-pat Pom. I asked him about what was happening when I watched the British parliament on TV, and sometimes a comment is made, and someone on the opposite side of the house looks as though they have been shot. My friend said 'with them, it is an art form'.

The monarchy is now in self destruct mode ...

11 years back and relivent to todays financial climate

Maybe we all could agree to use this thread in paying our respects to a really Great Lady , she was able to walk the talk during our turbulent times with grace and with her chin up , much respect due …. Once She in the ground , have at the rest of her clan if you wish , I wouldn’t want their lives/jobs …. Just sayin’

Also taken from her coronation speech -

"The ceremonies you have seen today are ancient, and some of their origins are veiled in the mists of the past. But their spirit and their meaning shine through the ages never, perhaps, more brightly than now. I have in sincerity pledged myself to your service, as so many of you are pledged to mine. Throughout all my life and with all my heart I shall strive to be worthy of your trust."

The girl kept her word.

The world is a sadder place without her.

In a way it’s like you’ve lost an elderly Auntie and don’t quite know why you feel so sad.

By the way, she was a biker
Queen gone!

I don't much like the royal family. However I am extremely grateful that we in Australia lives under the Westrminster system of government. It is pretty fail-safe. In Australia, many people do not seem to appreciate, the role of the Monarch, so there is a republican movement. Charles the First called politics 'populism'. In Australia, we have some real prize rat-bags as politicians. An elected president would be a nightmare.
I was once in a class at night school, and there was a guy in his 40s who did not even know there are about 7 state governments and one federal government in Australia.
A lot of people got stroppy about the role of the Queen un the dismissal of the Whitlam government. What she did was correct, however she could only act based upon the information she had at the time. What happened was due to our own internal stupidity, and Murdoch.

By the way, she was a biker

It isn't her. She was an ambulance driver...
Queen gone!

...not a Wren.

Another motorcycle site I frequent posted the news of her passing .
On the subject of posting responses the moderators issued the statement “ feel free to disagree but be respectful, etc , etc.
One response was one word - calling Her Majesty the “ C” word .
I posted my displeasure with the moderators tolerating this and further listed why I thought she should be admired.
Guess whose response was immediately taken down… mine and the EXTREMELY disrespectful one word response still stands.
What in the world have some people come to ..

I bet Jaki, the fish and chip shop owner, will come to regret her actions on hearing the news.

Even though she's entitled to an opinion, she appears none too bright at gauging the general mood of the public....
However, why the NFFF see fit to oust her does smack of censorship/discrimination, does membership require slavish dedication to the monarchy?
Though given the emotive subject matter, it'll get overlooked.

That woman is amazing. And it’s indicative of many wrong things in the internet age.

Whether or not you agree with her is a separate point. It’s the fact that she thought it was OK to be so incredibly disrespectful, and do it in public, when her business relies on the public!

I think the phrase ‘tone deaf’ could not be more apt. Although ‘as thick as two short planks’ also seems to fit nicely !

Is that a Mercedes ****ing Benz they've put her in????? Who's idea was that?

At least her old man chose British.....

No just not disrespecting the deceased who only died hours before. Just had to keep her gob shut for common decency.

when her business relies on the public!

Business is now shut, never to reopen until the site is let to another tenant.

If you look at the Google reviews for the Chippy and go back a few months she kept a blackboard in the front window, it had some odd and frankly deranged conspiracy theories of the David Icke type with Lizards being a regular subject.
