It's Gone

Hey all. I'm John, the new, VERY proud owner of Big_Jim59's Norton. I'm hoping the delivery is Tuesday as I'm "chomping at the bit" to ride her. I'm very grateful to have found this website and have already begun wearing out the Search button.
Hope you're all well.
The International Norton Owners Assn rally is happening this week in Northern California. The Northwest Norton Owners Club is very active - great friendly and helpful people, also lots of club rides https://www.nwno.org/

Take it easy for a few rides. There's a few things that are quirky about Commandos. The shift pattern is 1-N-2-3-4. Finding neutral is a subtle half click up from 2 or down from 1. A little too heavy of a click and you go right by neutral. You don't want to be learning the gearbox touch in traffic if you're in the city. There's lots of things to learn when you own a commando... too many to list in a single post, but you're in the right place to learn them...

My suggestion is to very quickly get used to its braking power by practising emergency stops. I have not ridden a 750 with front mechanical brake, but on my stock 850 with its front chromed disc, braking power was weak and I upgraded to a master cylinder that gave more disc grab for the same pull pressure
