Hi all just a basic question as I'm trying to get a roadster tank for my s type rebuild and I was wanting to know are all the roadster tanks (steel) the exact same from 68 to 75 and both 750 and 850? And is there any difference to the s type or is it the same as the roadster tank? I thought they were all the same? Thanks boys

nope, not all the same. most easily noticed are some have more of a ridged edge. May be other differences too

As pelican has said, the '73-'74 steel Roadster tanks have raised welded seams while the '75 850 MkIII Roadster steel tanks do not, the steel tank filler caps also open in the opposite "safe" direction with the hinged side nearest to the rider.

Prior to 1972, all Commando tanks are likely to originally have been fibreglass (with the exception of the Fastback LR).

Steel Roadster tanks aren't identical in form to fibreglass Roadster (and other variant) tanks but they're very similar and oddly enough, the later tank with no seam behind the headstock probably looks more like the early one.
