I tend to run with my lights on and have a 8AH battery fitted. I have a 22000pf capacitor that I intended to fit to my rotary Norton, (now sold) I could wire this across the output of the powerbox to smooth out the gaps in voltage delivery. Would that be a good idea? is there a down side?

Should be no worries about running across the output of the box, as this is exactly how the original would have been wired. Just make sure of polarity if it's an electrolytic cap (typically). One question, though; is that, in fact, a 2200 pf capacitor? Maybe 2200 mf?

It's 22000pf (with the top of the p missing) other details on the blue case say UR 25V I got it to replace a capacitor fitted to my ex police rotary that had a kokousan alternator on. I guess to smooth out voltage for police equipment.

Podtronics do now offer a single phase unit 200W with capacitor which will allow you to run without battery

I think they retail around £60.00 in the UK so they should be a little cheaper in the US

However, they don't make a 3-phase unit with a capacitor which is what gripper would need (although I don't think he intends to try to run the system without a battery) that's unless you were replying to the original question from 2014?

I have been following this & other threads on regulators . The polaris part [SH775 type ] on ebay etc , seems to be an aftermarket brand , as opposed to a genuine part .
Can anyone tell me if these would be OK , or point me in the direction of a quality part .

I saw some cheap ones on eBay but stayed away because they said it was a "replacement". I ended up with a used Shindengen SH775 for $40. It was described as follows: 08-15 Seadoo 4 TEC Voltage Regulator Rectifier GTI Spark Can-Am Outlander 650 800 1000. You have to watch it when shopping on eBay because there are shunt type regulators which also use the same footprint and connectors. Either one will work but the series type is easier on the alternator. Look closely at the markings in the auction's pictures.

I did not install mine yet. It is huge but may fit under the battery box. I bought the connectors to mate with it but they also add to the size. I probably will not use them and just go with individual female fast-on terminals.
