Hi guys,

Bit of a biazzaro one this one (for me at least!). Arrived this morning to see fuel puddle having leaked from the carb filter... Figured it must have been a stuck needle. It seemed to clear up just just fine. Set off for a ten minute jaunt to warm up the gearbox oil for a change. Got back to find engine oil leaking from the breather tube. Checked the oil tank and it was full !?!?. (I regularly check it as I have been fighting a wet sump issue). Drained some out and it has a strange smell to it and although warm it's not terribly viscous - I've not got the best sense of smell but I'm figuring fuel might have leaked from the carb into the head and then down past the rings.... Is this possible?

Next question is what's the best way to flush it? Let it drain for a day or two and then replace it? Twice?

Many thanks,

Carl.

That's main reason for shutting off tank valves religiously on parking and leave crank near TDC. Gas diluted oil is poor luber so got 3 ways to go, take a bit of chance and just run it till engine heat cooks it off or drain into pan heated to over water boiling or change oil out. Better check petcocks and carb float seating for repeat situation.

I've already drained it. It was fresh too - Had only been in a couple of days :( I guess it's all part of my commando learning process.

Many thanks Hobot.
