Last riding season I installed the Podtronic unit with the capacitor to get rid of bad misfiring at around 3K rpm. It worked fine.
Does the capacitor in the unit need to be discharged before reinstalling the battery after a winter layup? Thanks in advance.

Not mentioned in the documentation that comes with the unit. Whatever you do don't short the POD. It turns to useless very quickly.

Edit: I forgot to mention that when I had that version of POD, I disconnected and reconnected the battery multiple times when working on various modifications to the motorcycle. Never a problem. Even if the capacitor held a charge, it wouldn't matter as long a safe electrical maintenance practices were used. It might spark some when making final battery connections, but that is not the same as a short. More of a surge that will be absorbed and suppressed by the battery. The battery is a good surge suppressor. Might not fly as true in this forum, but it does in the automotive world.

If it functions similar to the standard 2MC capacitor as I suspect it does then with the battery disconnected the capacitor will discharge within a few hours (if not in several minutes).
If charged, then switching the ignition on with the battery disconnected would drain it in less than a second.
I can't see any reason why it would need to be discharged before reconnecting the battery.
