How are folks plugging up the extra pipes on the oil tank like the chain oiler?

A short hose with a bolt in it?

Something else?

Yep, short lenght of 3/8 oil hose with a tight fit bolt and hose clips each end. I run mine down to the battery tray so it doesn't bang around the rear guard.

I had read on another thread where someone got little rubber caps that are designed for capping car air conditioning piping.

I got a package at my local NAPA store and they fit perfectly and I added a hose clamp ( type for fuel injection piping) for luck.
Looks and works great.

I solder a copper plumbing tube end cap on the metal stub if I have the tank off the bike. Otherwise the rubber/plastic cap with a clamp works.

Here's what I picked up.

The one went on perfect, I don't know if I'll use anything to secure it.
The other one was a little loose so the safety wire came out.

When I bought the "new" tank, I cut the chain oiler spigot off as close to the return pipe as I could. Then used a die grinder and flap wheel to smooth everything out:

After the machine shop ran it thru the hot-tank, he hit it with the TIG and sealed it up tight. After a scuff-sand and re-paint, it's invisible and oil-tight. Can't find a pic of the finished tank, though.

Naturally, the rear bracket broke on that tank too, so I ended up with a real visible weld repair anyway. Stuff happens.

Since I picked the oil tank off the shelf to install it, I took the time to pinch the "chain oiler" fitting with a pair of vice-grips (mole grips), and soldered it shut with the last of my acetylene. Time to get to the welding shop and swap that tank out...

I like T.C.'s solution better.

That cap fits the chain oiler spigot so perfectly. I'll safety wire it anyways and take the other plug off.

So I ended up using just one of the caps. If anyone wants a free cap, PM me with your address.
