Please help my steering stop

I love my fg IS tank because its easy for me to repair, weights same as steel Roadster tank. I'm sold so far on the Caswell stuff and would try take in thick layers to save fg tank, if reducing volume by a liter or so. I did get upset on first seeing LH front dented in with fiber sheet fractures frayed with thumb sized section missing, but light and mirror showed nothing pierced inside nor leaked.
Just filled in outside and left Caswell coat alone, which I believe in heart of hearts is what backed up fg just enough. But must think aobut this issue along with fork stops as too many stories of out the blue smack downs, but fairly rare to hurt tank finish if bars not bent into tank when fork stop held. When goats took down I was pleased again the conveyor belt spread and absorbed impact to save both tank and frame to need repair, ontop of other stuff. If I'd not put attention on Ms Peel and Trixie I'd of finished my SV crash bars and been able to ride it away after goats downed or save $100's in extra damage. Next time eh.

Can't help with the 'Mig' question. Welding for me involves a phone call to Ali (a pal who has a welder and will travel, bless him.) I would agree with DogT about the frame stops hitting the bottom yoke on the 1969-70 its messy and not ideal. The Triton I mentioned earlier in the thread has the stops on the underside of the bottom yoke. I will try and get some pics when I get a chance to see it this week.

By the way Boz, would you be willing to supply a frame number and date from your 70 'S'?

I never did like the paint chips off the lower yoke, but I doubt if a rubber bumper would stay on there.

Much as I would like to, and it would certainly be a solution, the funds are not there at present . I've just received my new Ss spokes from Hagon so all spent out.

I managed to get a pic this week of the Triton steering stop. Does anyone know where I can get the plate part; I think its standard featherbed but Mr Google doesn't seem to know. I should be able to make it work on my bike.
