check out the price of venolia pistons before you get too far into this..they will custom make anything you want very reasonably and the quality is superb...wiseco will also make them but they can be a bit pricey but the quality is there...im a little concerned about the pins wiseco supplies[taiwan] cuz in my canam i took it apart after 500 miles and there was a thou of wear on the pin...anybody had any experience with this one?

i would not recommend using any kind of glue to repair threads especially inside where you cant see it fail....tig welding would be best if you can get somebody to do the machining properly because the setup would be quite difficult to get everthing square again and you would have to machine out a lot to get the weld down to the bottom of the hole...keenserts or some other insert would be the best way because they are oversize even for helicoils...lumiweld[ya know the stuff where a seven year old welds a popcan to a primary case to a lawn chair to an alternator at the swapmeets] is really the cats ass to use on these repairs...it takes a bit of work to get the technique but itll get you out of binds like this without all the heat distortion that tigging can get you into the only problem is that it is a lot shinier than the stock casting and if you are doing something visible like a primary it will show up..............

Debby,
If you've got your cases out of the bike, you might consider taking them up to Acme Machine in Ft. Collins. They have been in the business a long time, and are straight shooters. I have had them do machine work in the past. Not cheap, but no shortcuts on quality either.
