Pipes too big by 1mm.

Andre,
I believe you mentioned earlier that the 1mm to large relates to the circumference, not the diameter. Is that correct?

Yes. So it would not pass my head exhust threads (where you bolt the lock nut) . Had to take a Dremel and go around the pipe and shave off a bit till it went in.

I suspect that this interference issue may be caused by a combination of two issues. Warpage of the flange on the pipe, during the welding operation. Distortion of the exhaust port due to either/or/both prior overheating of the cylinder head, causing the exhaust ports [hottest section of the head] to warp. Over tightening of the exhaust retaining nuts by the previous owner(s).
I wonder if the difference in circumference of the flanges of the old versus new pipes is actually a manufacturing defect, or simply wear on the flange of the old pipe? Is the chrome plating still intact on the circumference of the old pipe flange?

They offered me a full refund but I decided to grind them down a bit with my Dremel now they are perfect.

Mike replied with this,

We don;t get pipes from Norvil, they are either TJ Wassell (stamped N63 at the ends) or LF Harris stamped 06 3375/6.

Mike has always answered all my questions and Walridge have been good to me so I didn't make a stink.
The plot thickens! Although it may be going a bit off-topic ... The man at Norvil (you know who) maintains that his pipes are made for him, locally, and are the only ones to be stamped 'N 63'. Make of that what you will! o_O

You're over anylizing this. During the chrome plating process the excessive plating caused the circonference to be larger. That's it.

this sounds more like mike. you almost never complaints about how he does business. he has a reputation as one of the good guys.
