Periodic vehicle inspection (USA only please)

No , no inspections of any kind on motorcycles. They are supposed to be registered and insured. Cops usually don't pursue them for speeding and things like that. More and more I see unregistered dirt bikes and quads rolling down the road Riding wheelies and doing all kinds of stunts in broad daylight. Unbelievable.
So, in non-inspection sticker states what I am curious about, in small, rural towns where there is not much crime, are the fun police more inclined to pull over bikes and eff with them about various vehicle related issues?

My state laws allow me to circumvent all the BS associated with inspections etc.
I applied for and received historic plates.

Historic plates equate to:
no state inspection required,
6000 miles per year allowed
no emissions check
proof of insurance required.

The only thing I get stopped for now is a periodic warning of speeding and 90% of the time the cop that pulls me over wants to talk about the motorcycle, which is fine with me. Be nice, be courteous, be friendly. I have a lot of respect for those guys many of whom are vets.
The cops talk amongst themselves, they hear about you. I even made an appointment with the chief of police about my old motorcycle and the best way to license it. He wrote me a very nice letter that I always carry.

Law enforcement rarely gets after me except when speeding on some of my favorite roads in the rural areas and I run these roads at sunrise and holidays when the traffic is minimal.
It has gotten too damn dangerous with every third driver looking at their effing phone instead of the road.
 
Interesting to read all this, here in the most over regulated state in the Country, California, we have nothing, none, zero, zip, nada
on M/C inspections. Once your registered, just pay the annual fees.

THAT, is astounding.
I have two friends who have lived in CA for over thirty years and are both moving their businesses and families to Texas and Nevada because of over the top regulations, taxes and political "idiocy". Their words.
With all of CA's emissions and save the planet regulations it's really hard to comprehend zero regulations on motorcycles.
I would have assumed they would be a target.

Concours, I haven't had that problem, I can't remember the last time I saw a motorcycle pulled over. When we were an inspection state I got pulled twice on the Harley and once on the Norton. Every time it was by New Jersey State Police, not local yokels. The Norton set the record with about six tickets. I beat all but one. Some were vehicle related, equipment related etc. back in the 1970s when my buddy built this 1960 panhead he only got pulled over once in a small local town. The cop just wanted to look at the bike. 😎

I just realized, none of my situation is shared.

I drive 60,000 miles per year for work. Much of it in urban traffic, high density highway, in my four wheeled vehicle. My exposure to ALL of the madness is QUADRUPLE the national average. Accidents, distracted, impared, raged drivers as well as speed enforcement.
Being buddies with Andy, Opie and Barny is a great plan for most. But, it is just a tiny fraction of my road time. I always am respectful of others, including law enforcement.
My license, and therefore my ability to earn a living relies on mostly objective factors.

It’s worth remembering that lack of inspection does not equal lack of regulation… Or lack of consequent liability…
 
No inspections, car or motorcycle in CA. No smog for MC. Lane splitting allowed. If something is very wrong with the vehicle you may get a fix-it ticket, pretty much only by the CHP. I got one once, forgot why. Once I got stopped in a high desert town on the 395 in an AMC Rambler with no tail lights. Not my car so I'm not guilty haha. Cop said you won't leave town till you fix. It was late and only a convenience store was open. Got two disposable flashlights (a new thing in 1980) and a roll of duct tape, pulled the bulb holders and taped them in. Nervously looked out the back window as we passed the cop on the way out of town.
