Peashooter Fit Up

Any one have any close up pics of the rear mounting brackects and fit up of peashooter mufflers? The reason I ask is that I have had to get a new set of headers made as the ones on the bike had the balance tube stub on the RHS was 3 degrees(approx) out of alignment and this in turn put pressure on the LHS header which cracked in two places on the weld lines. Paul at Viking Exhausts made the new ones and fit perfect,(he uses a C'do mock up with engine in frame and uses what ever muffler the client has) I suspect the peashooters I have are generic and would like to see other mountings out there. Have installed new rubber mounts, this hasn't changed any positioning of brackets.

Glad Viking got act back together as set I got after emailing assurance was absolutely the worse made and fitting header I've fitted and took a lot of grinding on exht ring and header flange to even get to fit into the head, ugh then some bending not to hit TS point cover. Owner was rather ill a decade ago so had to farm outside his control I assume. Here's one view for a little help but it pretty obvious how the plates have to go, after a time, then can bend headers to align on mount w/o much bind on the rubbers. I tend to grind a waist in mine for less fracture stress at the header bend.

Were those Viking mufflers that you "ventilated" with the rifle?

Hi guys, this is Viking Exhausts in New Zealand, have just fitted them and they are perfect, no grinding required, and that is with the balance tube in place. Had to trim 8 mm off the centre balance tube to get a neat fit.Top qaulity chrome.
Thanks for the pic hobot, there is a little more 'kick out' at muffler end than previous headers, just had to use a spare rubber mount to pick up the gap between mounts and muffler, and both are level when all completely fitted up.

I only bought Viking Headers in '03 not the mufflers. The eventually broken baffle peashooters came on Trixie from New Orleans a few wks before Katina flooded the river front shop. They were the constant tapper to header sleek beauties not the necked down after thoughts of the cheaper kind I put on Trixie this time.

There was a period almost a decade long of reports of fast cracking and flaking off chrome besides fouling fitting. I forget the owners name but we communed a bit before I sent money and waited. In mean time I believe a serious illness hit him so assume this was interval he lost control of production. I did not find out about my sets problems until I tried to fit them on pure factory Trixie '06, after a deer trashed the whole RH side and me. I had Peel in mind for these but Peels performance with rod links made me seek more power to succesful experiment with welding up my own 2-1-megaphone so didn't want to spoil the hi end Viking headers.

The worse part was the LH head end was so over sized/thick I had to grind it AND my new brass rings to risky thinness. Do I think this is still the case, no I don't, but don't know as don't know of new Viking reports as NOC list is off the air publically and BI list has lost most its Commando crowd.

As another untried experiment I had a new cheap set Alumized ceramic coated but somehow instructions got mixed up so outside got coated too, ugh, same finish as vintage Al tube lawn chairs. But they lurk in shed rafters and expect to need them Trixie in a couple tire changes or so more.
Wes and I fracture headers near the head about every other year, same with the rubber hangers.
