Pazon Smart Fire vs. Sachse Ignition

I just ordered a Pazon. I have read good things about it here, and they have a free shipping special right now, $125 shipped.

I have a Sachse on my café racer and will put one on my café Commando. I have no long term report other than it works as advertised however, I would probably go with an Ignitech on a future Norton or any other bike only because it is so easy to tune with a PC. I have an Ignitech on my Yamaha RD400 and it has proven to be very good so far. See post45190.html?hilit=ignitech#p45190

Ignitech!! Thanks Jean, I think I will go with the optical plate from sachse and the czech sparkbox.
Thats the thing I was looking for, price is also hot.

The Pazon Smart Fire's advance curve is pre-set, correct? No adjustable by the end user? And, he curve, by their image of it, appears to be the same for Triumph/BSANorton except for the engine speed that it starts at?

If your into it for racing. This one is simple and programable. Now that they've worked out the bugs between E-start and K-start
it's getting great reviews. I don't know who's selling it in Europe though.

The Power Arc ignition is a cool unit, but if you buy it from Old Brits, it comes pre-programmed, Old Brits can reprogram it, but you have to send it back. You can buy one direct from Power Arc that you can program yourself, but it is not the same price. The Ignitech can be reprogrammed at home as long as you have windows and a serail port.

Powerarch can sell ya the connector to hook to 'puter and down load the free graphics programing. No numbers to type in just drag each of the 3 spark lines where I want them and read off the numbers and go test and feel and listen, then diddle some more as desired. Can program the forced idle control like Tri-sprark has to offer. Kick start function needs to be programed to fire at or near TDC the first go around. Rev limiter can be an engine saving feature few ignitions offer.

Hi, no more feedback from the Sachse ignition??
does someone know which ignition is used on the Homeslice Seeley??

This is first i have heard of Sachse ignition. At almost 1/3 times the cost, the pazon is even more atractive . I love my Pazon unit.

From what i have seen at Grattan, Kenny has had good success with the Power Arc from OldBritts. I think he likes the mapping feature and is working on his own map to suit his needs. He also like the idea of switching maps on the fly with a switch but this too is still in the works I think.

If push comes to shove, I think he would still run the Boyer if needed. Old tried and true kinda thing. It's probably what is most familure.

Kenny, have i put enough words in your mouth. Sorry

they are very popular on the laverda triples and have a very good report /reputation with that crowd - also they are programmable, while i don't have the Sachse on my laverda (moto Witt), i have a different programmable ignition and love the tuning of it , have putt larger carbs, cams, piston etc in my laverda - guess depends if you plan on running a stock norton or increasing its performance

of course that doesn't answer your question directly, but none of the previous post have either other than getting into the typical my ignition is better thread

The Sachse? I wouldn't call it programmable - you can select nine pre-defined ignition curves and Volker offers to programm customer curves when he's building them (or maybe when the items are shipped back to him but I'm not entirely sure in this). I have one at home but apart from the fact that it fits the shelf nicely I can't say anything about its functionality yet.

I like the PowerArc from a technological point of view but I'm not a big fan of optical pickups in an engine environement.

there was a kit sold buy mallory ignition called a unilight that used an led optical trigger, the joke with it was you either carried a spare trigger or you walked home. it earned the name uniwalk.

woops - yes - i meant to say different curves to select from, same as my moto witt - fast to slow advance and in between etc etc

The Sachse has two corves that match the Norton engine, it has features like a TDC spark below 600 RPM to prevent kickback, a set advance at idle so it doesn't wander. The only thing it lacks is the ability to change the curve using a computer. It is the same with the PowerArc ignition, you buy it from Old Brits and it is pre-programmed with the curve they have selected, you can send them the unit and they will reprogram it (free?????) to another curve. As I said, the best one I have found so far is the Ignitech, it can be programmed at home with a PC, the only drawback is the pickup which is not made for the Norton so installation is not just bolt on and go... are we so "modern" we require everything to be done by someone else?

Nothing wrong with any of the other ignitions out there either except they lack any form of customization.
