Passing the tinkering torch

Had to split the cases, replace crank seals, because it just wasn't responding as expected. 4 hours after work one eve, and she runs GANGBUSTERS now. Including tge H4 taped mod until a new light arrives.

Did you cut the ports? Oh come on it makes them run tremendous! But reliability will suffer! One of the best RD tuners lived in you area, Chet Watson, since passed but his son knows the ropes Chet jr.

I didn't, summer is short, he needed to ride this thing. This coming winter, he is pledging to do it up properly. I'll assist, but must budget my time.

If it's any consolation, I was 9, Dad hogged out the ports on my 60cc Yam when rebuilding it

That bike really did try to kill me !
 
Today, PIGPEN got a few minutes attention. The air passage to the main well was clogged, stupid rich mid-range.

PIGPEN got fork seals, and hillbilly rust pitting remediation. Remember, it's just a bang around bike, lot's of infirmities.
Just trying this to keep the seals from getting gnawed up on the pitting.

I use lanolin based oil products to take care of corrosion issues and found this stuff that maybe available in your neck of the woods.. for the top of your forks
I have also used a lanolin based type stiff grease that you dip stainless screws into as a insulator to stop electrolysis when screwing into aluminum boats etc

Thank you, here in the road salt belt, the battle of corrosion rages fiercely on the four wheeled vehicles. I'll give it a look
 
Seeing this post late! Planning to blow it up with Pyrodex or is there a performance secret that I haven't heard of????

RD 350 The 3 small holes actually detuned the engine, failed experiment!!! The larger did swirl intake under piston crown to cool it. Big holes have also been enlarged.

Snowmobile clutching..
only a few weekends each winter...
I don't want to be hobbled with a WORSE setup (easy to do) for a ride.
