Checked my battery today to find the electrolyte level down 1/2" after 250 miles.

Plus, I have a fairly weak headlight.

Not sure the two are related, but would your opinion be an overcharging issue?

What fix is suggested?

You need to instrument the charging system. A simple voltmeter with bike running will give you a lot of info. Voltage going up to 15 volts will boil the electrolyte in the battery, and would indicate lack of regulation.

How old is the battery. New or old, pull it and take it to the autoparts store and get it load tested.
FYI I have had 2 new gel type batteries go bad and if they hadn't replaced for free I would not have gotten that type again. VVVIIIBBBRRRAAATTTIIIOOONNN????

overcharging?

bwwaaaaaaa haaaaaa haaaaaaaa haaaaaaa

seriously, stop it.

my stomach hurts.

No Kidding me too. Giggling silly at the mere concept. Makes me wonder how much bigger a battery might be installed, that the charger could never ever top off even on hwy run, as long as ignition and headlight being supplied. But as advised, charger is the Last Place to Look for boiled off battery. Its possible un reectified unregulated current could over charge so you make get the last laugh on us fixing that gremlin.
