Today I drove, with trailer in tow, to western Massachusetts, with my 27 year old son Alex.

Alex is a licensed Airframe and Power aviation mechanic and has been a motorcyclist since age 10; he has owned, notably, an R-1 Yamaha where he demonstrated that he could accelerate away from me while I was at 90 MPH on an R1200 GS, in first gear! He recently sold a 1981 Hardley which made more noise than a tornedo in a trailer park and had a performance envelope similar to John Deer "B" . After counting his money he told me that he wanted a Brit bike that he could leverage his A&P skills to, as well as my knowledge and resources.

Today he purchased a '73, 750 matching numbers Commando Roadster that needs everything, but that is all there. I'm a proud papa AGAIN!!!!. No way I'm passing the torch (yet), but we have another person that is taking up the challenge of preserving the original Norton marque. I have encouraged him to join the forum and share his experience(s) bringing this cast-off candidate back to the road.

Bill.

Hello everyone this is Alex, Bill's son. I just recently created my account here on accessnorton, I am very excited about getting into the Brit bike crowd and quite eager to start work on my new to me machine. I would be happy to cover my build/restoration on this forum, I am very open to suggestions, recommendations and advice during the build. I am not sure how to add pictures yet, if someone could help me out I will post some pictures of my pile of parts ASAP.
