So my dad is in his mid 60's. He has been on work disability since he was 37. About 5 years ago he was diagnosed with cancer.
To date he has had about 25 surgeries, been in a upper body cast, walked with a cane, crutches, been in a wheel chair etc...
He has beaten the Cancer, and once again walks unassisted despite the titanium hip to below knee replacement in his right leg.
He is also missing a liver and half a lung.

Despite all this, he is Happy and continues to live each day. I don't know how he does it, but i'm glad he does. The existence of my 2 boys surely helps.

He and my mom are finally going on vacation next week. It's been a long time. 8 days in Vegas.

They don't gamble. They do have a huge list of places to go and things to do.

One of those things will be eating up my time. He has decided he wants a new toy.
So while he's out there he will be looking for a 50's or late 70's Ford F-100 project truck.

Guess who gets to build it for him.
On the plus side, he is finally listening and receptive to my ideas.
It will be getting a Crown Vic transplant. Google Crown Vic into F-100, lots of info.

So while my Truck sits stored untouched in the barn, we will be undertaking a new project.
Stay tuned, this is going to get interesting.

Great life story and I am so glad you have your dad to still pal around with. I lost my dad a month ago but he is why I am into Mopar muscle, Triumphs and Nortons. So many late nights working on my 70 Challenger with him. After working all day he would eat dinner and come outside to see what kind of help I needed. He would figure out in two minutes what I couldn't figure out in 5 hours. Camping, fishing, four wheeling. we did it all.Your dad sounds like a proud man with a prouder son. I hope it lasts a long time.

Vegas. I'm not much for the gambling myself but there are a lot of other distractions. Buffets buffets buffets! oh, I can't remember which casino, but one of them has an interesting car museum.

MMMMM, interesting....I know of a 51 F1 with a 302 and C4 combo that recently got a GM steering box under it.....just saying....

Your Dad sounds like a fighter and is determined to enjoy life. More of us could do with a bit of his philosophy on life :D and I'm sure you will get a lot out of the truck rebuild.
Vegas sounds like a lot of fun!

I really lucked out. My mom stayed home with me until dad got hurt. Then he took over while she went back to work. Funny, I now stay home with the kids and my wife works. The cycle continues.
I look forward to working on the truck, it's been years since we have worked together on a project. This time my boys can help, little hands for sanding and sweeping.

The only thing I don't like is shop space is cramped right now, I'm still trying to figure that out.

I am 71 years of age and in my mind I am still 27, the age I was when I started road racing . I am a scientist, and I've had a long career in defence manufacturing, I've had the family, the divorce. Now I'm retired and remarried. I look back on my life, and recognise that I have achieved a lot. But one thing really bugs me - I didn't do enough for myself, not enough motorcycle racing , not enough fishing , not enough enjoying music. My advice to any young guy is lead an active life, however while you do what is necessary, do some things for your self. It is no good looking back and having regrets , your time is valuable.

Imperial Palace, Last time I went they had a whole room of Dusenbergs. Breathtaking collection. And of course a Elvis Cadillac with TCB painted on the side!

Great story of survival and pressing on in life. I always like to hear the positive stories out there!!!
