I have seen maintenance literature for K2F magnetos that says there is an oil wick present to lubricate the CB shoe. It must be really small, or missing in mine. Can anyone help me find it?

Also, what are the two 0.120 inch dia holes in the cam ring high spots for? An oil wick?

Good questions.

Wasn't there some discussion that the phenolic resin type rubbing block was self-lubing, compared to the old tuffnol version that needed the oil wick.
Maybe.....

Skip here knows something of these things, be interesting to see his take on it.

Howdy Texas! You are correct, the two holes would originally had a tiny "slug" of felt wick. If you were to remove your cam ring, you would find a groove , just behind one of the wicks recessed into the end piece of the mag that has a narrow strip of felt as well, all to get a drop of oil. When these wicks are missing, I have had good luck cutting up wicks out of felt from nearest craft store . Its a real pain, but it can be done.

Here is a copy of the Lucas magneto parts list, see page G12 for K2F parts :

If you look at the end pieces of the mag at the bottom of the page, you can see the recess inside them at the bottom surface . If it is any help, I can download some pics here, or you can PM me if thats better for you.

Here is a copy of the lucas workshop manual for the K2F (and similar) magnetos:

If you need any magneto parts, let me know, I usually have a good supply of new & used parts .

Thanks Skip

I've printed out the detailed parts list and have it "archived". I'll contact you when I need replacements.

I did remove my cam ring prior to my post, and did notice the groove in the housing. I contemplated that it might be for a wick since it aligned exactly with the holes in the cam lobes.Since there was no wick present, I then wrongly concluded that it was a vestige of the old manual advance mechanism, my mag having the ATD.

I'll try your suggestion to make a wick of felt.
