Hi All I have a commando oil tank which has a damaged thread in the oil outlet .
This is the large threaded hole .I think the thread is 1in. x 20 tpi .
I am in Aust. so if anybody can help please contact me .
I would buy, borrow or hire this tap.
Cheers Steve

As an option: If it is 20 tpi then you may try a smaller OD tap with the same tpi (if you have one) to reclaim the damaged threads.
While you're there, perhaps consider using Dowty seals for the banjo junctions when you reassemble.

Just a thought, but are these cycle type threads, or plumbing threads ?
A plumbing supply shop, or indeed a plumber, may well have something suitable, probably not at outrageous $$.
Never having needed to repair these....

Edit. Consulting a thread chart shows this is a forlorn hope, in inch sizes the thread count is 11 tpi...

Any picture of the damaged threads? Many times, some careful, tedious filing, or dremeling to remove the localized mangled thread allows the fastener to fit smoothly, while plenty of strength remains for the task at hand. Or, a salvage banjo bolt can be notched to make a ghetto chaser.

Wolfs brazing is delicious to see but if me Id flush with acetone heat good to dry, pecker bottom a bit with a nail scratches then JBW puddle whole bottom and use epoxy thread repair and get on with the show.
