Oil Tank Banjo Bolt leaking

Yikes! I e-mailed the PO last fall and he didn't know, he didn't do it. The PO was the original owner and sold the bike to his brother in late 70's / early 80's Unfortunately his brother passed away about 10 years ago and he inherited the bike back. I have to assume it hasn't been done and have to verify myself.

That's frightening!
I hope they are tapered threads?

Sump plug should look like this:

And the original gearbox drain plug would have been 3/8" - 20 BSF (no magnet) with a 1/4" Whitworth (.525" A/F) thin hexagon head.

PS
The main stand bolts should really be fitted the other way around-with their heads on the inside of the cradle otherwise the protruding end of the left bolt may rub against the stand spring and cause it to fail prematurely if fitted so the bolt head is on the outside.

Mail strike over and parts have arrived. Looks like the Sump Drain threads were stripped and repaired at some point. Here it is with remanents of some kind of gasket sealer red and grey...

Here is the square plug compared to the proper drain plug. The new plug screws in but won't tighten. I put the square one back in, it seems to tighten in ok and has been holding oil (slight drop) since I've aquired the bike. What would be the recommended fix? I would like to get proper but I'm tempted to leave it until winter sets in. Reversing the Centre Stand bolts will be another winter job. The Tank Bango and Sump Filter washers all went on ok. Will get it running new rocker stud comes in which should fix another leak point.

Hers the stuff I took off. Sump Filter to the left, Oil Tank Banjo to the right. The rubber was pretty hard.

I suppose you could drill and tap that drain hole out to 7/16, but nothing standard would ever fit again. I'd go for getting a kit for the 3/8-20 helicoil, don't know if they are available though.

Rubber on the oil tank banjo? Shouldn't be there, just AL or CU crush washers on both sides, if necessary some gasket sealant, but not always required.
