Oil Filter Clearance

I don't have the shocks installed (as in I don't have shocks yet to install) but I took an old oil filter and there sure wasn't much room for the swingarm to come down before it hit the filter. With the bike up on the center stand just how much clearance is there?

On my 74 850 just enough clearance to get the retainer band on and that's a tight fit.

Dave:

You may have to drill the upper mounting hole further back.
This will rotate the filter down away from contact with the swingarm.
Don't ask why I know this

SwooshDave,
my 72 combat has a factory installed filter and mount.
I use emgo filters in orange color w/o any clearance issues.
In fact I can get the filter wrench around the filter for removal.
I'd get the shocks on and get everything in rack before I get too concerned.
Are you using a larger car filter? ie.. maybe Fram?

That filter seem kinda big. The NAPA PS7013 is perfect. Under 10bucks. This link will give the od. I would rather put on a nice filter that fits than drill another hole. What is the diameter of the one in place?
[Broken Link Removed].

Full flow, low bypass, anti drainback and CHROME.
