I want to increase the oil pressure on my 71 750. My understanding is that I need to upgrade the rocker oil feed line to braided. Anything else need to be done?

What sort of oil pressure are you getting at the moment?

It's set to the stock pressure which I think is 40 or 50 max. A parts supplier told me that the optimum pressure is 10 psi per 1000 rpms. If the bike redlines at 7k, that means a max pressure of 70, which will blow the plastic tubes off of their nipples.

A braided rocker feed line is certainly more secure (and I use one myself) but personally I don't see much (if any) advantage from exceeding the factory recommended maximum oil pressure?

I dunno, I'm taken this thing to bits and want it to be as good as possible when I put it back together. I run bikes really hard, and since this guy builds race bikes, it seemed like a good idea.

Too high a pressure will invert the oil feed seal on the end of the crank, end of all oil pressure. Stick to the current pressure and instead go to a better oil, I use fully Synthetic 15/60W oil.

I am in the process of buying all stainless braided oil hose for my MkIII. Not sure if I'm wasting my money or not, but at least it will look nice.

I'm inclined to get them no matter what. I've had trouble with the plastic ones weeping. I'm also going to call Fred Eaton and get to the bottom of this oil pressure business.

The problem with the rocker feed is that on a Norton its at full oil pressure, get a big leak and its goodbye big ends. So stainless pipes is good insurance.

My plastic rocker oil-feed pipe got loose when hot and come adrift when kick starting, depositing oil all over the floor. Fortunately no damage was caused but I have now replaced it with braided hose.
