Nova Scotia Presumed Consent

The U.K. government is looking to bring legislation to do the same here, if they ever get round to discussing anything other than B......t (not bullshit but might as well be!)

agree with craig… I need newer model brain plus liver and high performance pecker
 
My problem is they can't find a brain small enough to replace mine, as for the liver that went years ago and the pecker as long as it hardens up every so often I be happy, as long as I can throw a leg over the Norton and kick it to life, hopefully that will be all good till I am a 105 or I have to sell the wife and kids and dogs to pay for a electric start lol.

Spain has had similar program in place for many years ... here the paper say 2 year study and b.s. period .... looks like it will prolly be a go .....
 
Since this thread started my younger brother (by 11 yrs) had his defective liver replaced with donation , I don’t really know him very well , but from what I have heard and seen he appears very much alive …. I visited just before transplant and he appeared as dead as other dead folks I have seen over the yrs , a modern day
medical miracle ….
 
I signed my organ donor card decades ago use me for parts if need me but don’t charge my or presume anything being a organ donor should be a personal decision not a government decision.

In an opt out program, the government doesn’t choose for you. You may choose to opt out if you wish. They are just making it easier for you to be a donor, again, if you wish.

Maybe I understand it wrong , but if you don't opt out well your in as a donor should you meet your demise. Most people are busy with their life and miss small but important details that could lead to a surprise when the government steps in and tells your family that you didn't opt out so we salvaged your organs.

Organ donation has been on your drivers license card for decades. So easy to sign on. Equally as easy to sign off. Can't be bothered? Too bad.

Sure is easy to sign on and so easy to sign off that your government is pulling a fast one on ya'll by making it a sign off first if you all have an objection , its a scam for control of your family members and you.

It’s not a scam. Once again the choice is all yours. If you want to donate you can. If you don’t want to you don’t have to. I personally have signed up for organ donation as I believe it’s the right thing for Me to do. I am not trying to change your mind on the subject, I’m just saying that no one is forcing anything on you. They’re just giving you a choice.

consent for organ donation is already the default situation in Wales.
 
Can't speak for other countries, but I would prefer that the US Government(s) make no decisions for me. In the case of organ donation, it's not even the government, it's the morgue. Sounds like unless you have a tattoo on your forehead in NS saying no donation, your parts will be used (you're opted in unless after death you can say no)! Don't get me wrong - I'm opted in.

Maybe NS is better than the US - I'm positive that if you show at a hospital here without id, you will be John/Jane Doe and if there is a presumption that can be used it will be (organs, life support, your preferences, all have no meaning). I have proof of that.
