Not just shiny, but finned and shiny

Never heard of a tacho or speedo overheating but better safe than sorry

Excessive Speedo-heat has long been known to be a "safety-issue" with the Commando so I'm just being a "safety-noid", I'm not "blinging up" the bike.

My Wifes, Sisters, foot Doctors, College roommates, friend knew somebody who met somebody who's Tach overheated so badly that his Cat burst into flames! (and the cat was 2 states away).

Yeah, that's the ticket.

He apparently is a Machinist so I think the stuff is made on-site

yes but does any one believe the "finned" valve covers and points caps other glittery parts really helping cooling too?

more of a pimp on ride thing i believe

Theoretically it should help cool. But no one has taken the time and expensive to measure it.

theory can commonly mean everything but the truth ( I have a phd in biochemisty i deal a lot with "theories" )

- they have these "coolers" for the rockers feeds for triumph's too and they don''t do shit other than seal a little better (which is a plus)

remember all that glitters is not gold, and my favorite
"chrome don't get ya home"

Oh brother.
This is another area Peel has exceeded expectations,
over doing her clocks ranges, so maybe a bit of finned
radiation surface would help keep crank wipe retained
with less drag on the tack and cam drive, let along
the rear axle speedo transmision.
Wish I'd knew of this clock mount feature before got
heart set on some after market readouts. oh well
I just move over to let others glowing meters on by.

Don't guess ya heard about Peel's past stuck on start throttle
stick-age event.

Yeah, but Norton engines leave so little room for plumbing.
I've considered this water cooling for a fantasy land speed run.
Spraying water on fins or even liquid CO2 for the short haul.

incorporating one/some of hobots other musings (or thread - depending upon your faulkner'iske interpretation of his post)

apparently water cooling is supplied via the rider by some of the posters who commandos apparently are capable of land speed records

I've only a back of the mind desire, but Commando have attempted
the Salt Lake records for real in a number of classes.
About 4-5 years ago a supercharged Commando made it
both ways, don't know results,
but later that day on a joy ride off the groomed
course the rider hit bumps and was killed.
That's a reason the death motifs are a feature of biker-hood.
