Norton trouble

As of now Norton as a business is done and over with.
what about our beloved forum?

Quite a big mess, sorry for this, all involved (except not sorry with SG, dishonest!) I am keen to hear from the dedicated team that worked there to find out some more truths. I expect their hands are tied still.

This forum isn’t going anywhere and it’s my pride and joy to keep it operational as well as my old bikes. Norton’s and other old brit bikes are in my blood.

I was out testing my 750 today to see why the forks are bouncing a bit much over 95 mph. I was at the Colorado Norton meeting last night, with fellow enthusiasts ( great to see you Jim C and all others). Its a daily thing. I know I don’t post much these days, but trust me, I am here with ya.

I ain’t going anywhere and neither is Access Norton. If I get hit by a bus, plans are in place so this continues.

sorry again to hear all this crappola.

Jerry

I thought I’d seen that bike b4 , here it is in Norton factory showroom October 2017, certain it’s a one off , used in fashion clothing shoots with Norton clothing , pretty sure it was one never to be sold ! So now it’s ended up in a Yorkshire bike dealer s hands ?? Plot thickens https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F324050647919View attachment 14212View attachment 14213
Well spotted - I thought I’d seen it before....!

Sold to finance the escape private jet hire ;)
What happened to investagive journalism.
A well known British motorcycle paper did not know what was happening till after the event...
A well known British motorcycle journalist and road tester with a deep knowledge of all things Norton was in the dark!
SG was either very clever at concealing the true facts or there was a lot of blind eyes been turned.
The people who designed the Street 961 did not notice anything wrong.
I a am truly baffled.

The whole industry and the press knew some of it for years and I know one very scrupulous researcher who has presented the known facts to the various magazines again and again but they wanted nothing off it. I must laugh at MCN's recent promotional piece, something like "Read the Truth in MCN". They knew full well things were rotten in the State of Downington, but turned a blind eye because, they say, every time the "Norton" scroll appears on their title they sell a lot more mags than normal. They also allowed Garner- and he was the only one in the industry, not even the big Japanese manufacturers are allowed to do it- to read and censor all stories about Downington before they were published.

Add to it all publications are shy to publish the truth for fear of being taken to court for libel. If you want to hear the real story turn to industry insiders, not the press. The press want to sell adverts and copies, the truth is not a major concern. As "Terrible Terry" of MCN said to me about 30 years ago when I said: "But Terry, what you wrote is a lie and nothing to do with the truth!" about a big Norton feature in MCN his reply was "Yeah, but it makes good copy!"

Norton trouble
SG is seen under cover on a Triumph leaving the Norton factory just as the tax man came.

Really astonishing that SG survived another 7,5 years after I had read this. Fortunately I had already bought and received my Commando 961 from Fritz W. Egli just 3 months before following was published:

With my brand new MK II engine I hope to have many miles to go...
SG obtained Doddington Hall because, as he said, "I've always wanted a big house" then out of the blue came the pension scandal, it begins to get darker and darker............. it might remind you of other people I've heard about.

He is sat somewhere nice and warm laughing his arse off at this. Check out what Metro bank have as security (UKIPO) and you will see it is not that much. A UK trademark and a UK company owing lots of money, unless Norton Motorcycles UK own and have registered all the global TM's in Norton Motorcycles UK Ltd name, then it looks like even the bank has been had, unless the administrators can go after his global assets.

As for not spotting this, his track record in in 2008 said it all, even then.

Let's hope the administrators see a benefit in continuing the operation rather than closing it down. Of course the operation will have to move into cheaper facilities.

Even still, then have to negotiate distribution rights for each global area. Pointless, unless all TM's are owned by the manufacturer.
