norton factory visit

Nope, but if your waiting about, you may wanna wander down to the “Priest House” next door for lunch, as u may just be hanging around the showroom with little to do( apart from look at £250k plus of bikes)

Yes!

Please ask how the new factory is progressing and when 650 production is likely to start...

Ash had mentioned they were looking at producing an oil filler cap removal tool. He had one and I liked the look of it. Can you check if they have any plans to sell them?

I presume you’ve read the thread on this and know you can already buy them?

visit today:
The guy who manages orders said they are ‘days away’ from putting the extension to the V4 workshop into use for 650 assembly. I later saw the building, part of which will be the new servicing area, which they urgently need, as present one is crowded with customer bikes awaiting collection or awaiting work.
He said the priority will be the non-superlight versions, as these are the majority of orders, and expecting superlight early next year.
Space will allow 1000 units per annum, double current figure.
There is a pre-production 650 going round the grounds , and they don’t yet have one in the showroom, because final design not quite settled in every detail.
My California did not have any reprogramming, as I have left long silencers/cat as they were. Cat box means removal of it and silencers to drain engine oil, whereas non- cat doesn’t need that.
Factory ( assembly area for 961/V4) is ONLY open for tours 3pm Fridays, as a rule...I did try to see it!

the one the service bay uses is four prongs with plastic sheathing to go down into cap recesses. No sign of ones for sale.

Removed broken link

The top link is for the Thiel website , The second link is for Ollie's email.

Just email him and tell him you want one of those dip stick removal tools for the Norton 961 . That's it!

the other part of the visit was the 95 mile each way to do it, mainly up the M1 motorway and back via M1 and straight Roman road, the A5, travelling at 50-70 mostly, it did about 80mpg (UK gallons) Now can get to 6000rpm after 765 miles....good!

Yes but liked the one that Ash was using at the factory. Looks like will have to get the Thiel one.

You’ll love it !

I envy you having the Derbyshire Peak District to play in. I used to love it until in moved darn sarf. There’s some nice countryside down here, but it doesn’t compete with the drama and ruggedness of the peaks.

But the roads up there were chocka at weekends 20 years ago, goodness knows what they’re like now!
