I thought intially MichaelB's post a bit premature as it was you first post, however you have now shown your true colours and it looks like you are going to flood the board with For Sale posts.

We should either have a bring and buy section or only allow members with a history or non-selling posts before they can offer an item for sale, if someone wants only to post for sale ads they can pay Jerry for an ad to off set some of his costs.

Kommando

True...would be nice to have such a section....but lets not be hasty with making statements......could be he just saw it and passed it on as information for us all.....he is not the only one of us to insert some ebay link for others to view......or?
One way or another...if you are correct...he will have gotten the gist of it...if you are incorrect......then I see no problem with being informed...maybe one of us will buy it....

Even though all these books shown (so far) appear to be from the same seller (fatboynortonhorses)?

Fail to see why you two are getting so hot under the collar..can't even find the other faux pas you have alluded to. If it bothers you all so much...I'm sure Jerry will weed the stuff out...and maybe even do just what was suggested and put in a section to allow sale of items...but look on the bright side of it...it could be worse.
So far we have had only one entry in Russian...and as far as I know...even that wasn't quite as bad as it could have been. And these items are at least in tune with the general interest here on the board.

When someone figures out he can post all of his kiddie porn or his collection of "Dick does Jane" artwork....then I will join the ranks of the indignant. In the meantime....petition Jerry to do what you suggested and that might solve the heartburn.....

PS...Did indeed find the other entry...hadn't opened it as it had no interest for me....who needs one of those anyway....

Well I wasn't bothered, I was just pointing out a technical detail, nothing more than that....

You do though, have a valid point...which although I can't quite get all het up about it....should still be addressed....hopefully Jerry will come to the rescue.

Smile!!!!!!!

Enlightenment in lieu of bias.

Wow. I sure have rattled some cages.
As I stated in a response on my first post, I thought these forums were for people to share information on the forum topic. Telling people about items, which are pertinent to the site topic, being available for purchase is sharing information, IMHO.
Obviously no one on this forum is required to read every post so you are free to skip the ones you are not interested in. I cannot understand why some of you find this kind of post objectionable and I would be happy to be enlightened.
I'm also surprised that three posts could be considered a flood.

Ironhorse,

I'm sure you didn't intend to cause offence, but there are plenty of people out there who try to make money by dumping ads. in messages on forums, and that you genuinely wanted to let people know there were books likely to be of interest being offered for sale (by you if you are indeed the seller?).

Obviously no one on this forum is required to read every post so you are free to skip the ones you are not interested in.

Yes true, but then you don't always know what they are about until you read them!

And the headlines used were somewhat ambiguous:

"Norton Commando All Models Roy Bacon"

"Clymer Service - Maintenance - Repair Manual"

No mention there that these books are *for sale*. You could have been asking where to buy the books? Or asking a question about them?

Still, no harm done eh?

Change of heart?
Or is it just my opinion that means less than nothing??
Have a good day.

MichaelB.

Change of heart? Absolutely not. I certainly did not intend to upset anyone when I posted and I don't think I have said anything to offend anyone.
Your "Rather tacky" comment, on the other hand, would have been offensive to me if your unsolicited opinion meant anything to me at all. So, yes, it is just your opinion that means less than nothing as I know nothing of you and would not presume to judge anyone I don't even know.

One thing I really enjoy about this site is that it was free of the type of banter entered into on this thread. For mine I say let's get a "for sale" section as some have mentioned so these ads stay off the main topic list. OR at least as has also been said, make it very obvious you have an item for sale!
