I have a 1971 Norton roadster. The frame is bent on one side about a 1/4" on the right side tube from the steering head down to the front motor mount. I was wondering if a Norton 850 frame would work? What is the difference?
The Norton I have didn't have a side stand and the mounting bracket is on the inside of the frame. The newer Norton's have one on the outside
of the frame. I did straighten the bent tube and is looks ok but not sure what to do about the side kick stand? Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Yes, an 850 frame will work fine. It also has the better sidestand mount, the cradle is drilled for an oil filter and If it has the sidestand, it is beefier than the earlier ones. The yokes or triple trees are different on an 850 so try to get them with the frame.

Thank you for the information. I think I will order a side stand bracket and install it.
Thanks again for all your feedback.

You won't need that sidestand bracket if you're going to use any frame other than a '71. Because of the difference in triple T's and frame neck angles, between 750's & 850's do not use the 750 triple T yokes on a 850 frame. That would be dangerous or maybe deadly. This difference does yield a slight difference in steering. 750's turn in a little quicker, but you wouldn't notice it after awhile.
