400 miles and not a single issue of any kind. I was prepared for anything except this! Amazing. My relationship with this bike has gone to the next level. Every stop I get to chat with people about the bike. It has been a blast. Crossing into Oregon from California today. I know........pictures! I will try to post some tonite but my little travel computer is a little feable.

What a great way to travel. I cant figure if it's Christmas or my birthday!

Hehe- who was it that said they always expect the worst to be pleasantly surprised when it isn't. Out and about it'd take a naked gal to get more attention but not as long as a fully fettered Commando will retain it. I'm taking your report as good omen in my own task to ride Trixie Combat again. Turnip bikes and BSA's get grins and conversation too, but they are don't convey the easy keeping up with modern traffic a Norton Commando does. Generally takes my recoveries about 1000 miles to shake out connections or nips ups and fine adjustments. Then I lighten load some with less tape-zip ties-wire and heavy tools. Within 150 miles Wes and me usually just carry a small crescent wrench, dual end screw driver and small vice grips.
A spark plug or two and tire iron tube patch kit.

A Mark III that is reasonably maintained and properly prepped for the haul, should be ready to do thousands of miles without issues.

Sounds like fun in the sun.

I know how you feel. I am beggining to question why I ride modern bikes as well. The Commando does not disgrace itself.
