I’ve always liked that paint scheme. I must have been around 12 when I first saw one and was amazed at how different it made the Commando look!

Question for y’all… what’s that big bolt in the top of the headlamp shell ?

Looks like someone plugged an ammeter hole. Headlight bucket replaced once upon a time due to trauma....?

Guessing - the shell was replaced with one with an ammeter hole and that and the rubber, and washer plugs the hole.
 
I think that starting bid is realistic FOR A MECHANIC that knows Commandos.

I also think it MIGHT end up over $8,500, maybe even closer to $10K...

Parts & materials
Tires & tubes $400
Carb cleaning $20
Oil change w/ filter $60
Front brake cleanup & new hose $150
Rear brake cleanup & new hose $150
Battery $80

That's under a grand, easily, for typical aftermarket stuff. (Higher for higher quality stuff)

Labor
Tire swap- 4 hrs. (less, if you have a tire machine)
Carb cleaning - 2 hrs.
Oil change - 2 hrs.
Front brake overhaul - 4 hrs.
Rear brake overhaul - 5 hrs.
Battery swap 1/2 hr.

That's less than 18 hours, so an easy weekend's work.

If you have to have a shop do the work, you'd be looking at anywhere from $2K to $3K depending on "local shop" or big-box dealership shop.

Starting bid, do the work yourself - $7,500 Not bad at all, if you ask me.

Good title and very nearly original bike...

OK if you just want to end up with a rider-class bike that may or may not run and may or may not be reliable and will definitely by over-priced. The last, rider-class, Combat I took to nice cost $7734 in parts and took a LOT of my time. The bike cost me $4136 delivered, titled, and taxed so $11870 total cost without considering my time. It ran when I got it but certainly not reliably. Still had points, original carbs, and original paint/rims/fenders/etc.

I suppose I should have added "IF NOTHING INTERNAL IS DAMAGED". Because it sure looks decent in the photos...

...and maybe add "NOT CONCOURSE COSMETICALLY", just a decent-looking rider.

Come on guys, it is a MK III, figure in a new camshaft and lifters, cheap insurance in the long run.

Went for $6699. Only 2 bidders and only up $200 from the starting price. Clearly not desirable at that price/condition.
 
Did the Mk3 come with those little "caps" on the handlebar Allen screws as shown (one missing)? Also why is the choke facing the wrong way?

They are not shown in the parts drawing, but I bet they are original

back relisted at $8k
 
This bike struggling to get over $7K shows the market is very soft. BAT's MK3 sales history going a few years back shows sales results a lot higher.

Same seller, same pictures, original listing $6699, new listing $7999. I suspect the bidders walked away. The seller might think that listing at an even higher price may get people thinking it's a deal - it's not, IMHO.
