I’m in the process of converting my Interstate into a Roadster primarily to improve the seat foot peg relationship after discounting moving the pegs back due to rider/pillion foot space anyway, my tank and panels are going to be at the painters a few more weeks so I’ve decided to have the wheels rebuilt, the wheels let my bike down, the rims are ok but the spokes and nipples aren’t great. This is a job that’s needed doing and I’ve read everything I can find on the subject of wheel sizes originally thinking I’d go down the 19/18 combination. However, I’ve put some effort into sorting the handling, decent shocks, Lansdown fork internals, Dave Taylor head steady and sorted the wheel offset so everything if perfectly lined up, the bike handles really well so I’ve decided to keep the 19" front/rear combination. I called my wheel builder yesterday and he’s ordering in a pair of flangeless alloy rims and going to build them for me with stainless spokes. The wheels will be back before the tank so I’m losing no time into the bargain just a bit more cash...
