New Timken Clutch bearing - excess play

The bearing should be a 6007 with C2 clearance. This is one RCH tighter than "normal" clearance. Probably others have made it perfect (and swear by it) but I think only 25 thou rock at the OD of the clutch basket is very good. I noticed some play when I first looked at the primary when the bike was brand new and my dealer/mechanic said "they are all that way". I may have changed that bearing out back in the 70s but it made no difference and it is about the same now close to 35K miles later. Your friend is right - no big deal.
