OK so while rebuilding my norton i found out im pretty good a metal shaping . Just hammered this out last night .
What do you guys think?
 
Perhaps you should use a flash? :mrgreen:

On a serious note, I do look forward to seeing your efforts tj. I use a photo bucket account and copy IMG code. Hope that helps tj.

I thought it was like "The Emperor's New Clothes"... which would explain why I couldn't see it.
 
Looks pretty good, well done. I am especially impressed if you did it without an english wheeel.

What is it, mild sheet steel. Did you use a buck?

all done with hickory mallet and stump for rough form then planished with a hammer and dolly
And it 3003 16 gauge (.063) aluminum
 
Well done tj, looks good. I like the DIY attitude and your effort speaks for itself.
Got to make comment on the OLD single leg vice, I have one on my farm and what an incredibly tough item they are! You'll bust the bench before that will break! Mine spent years in an early blacksmiths shop ( pre hyd press )so its had a hard life but still works!

No, not a thief, just a quoter of thieves. Must be an English saying. They're very "humourous" people. (Definition of humour: humor with all the moisture removed.)

That old vise is the best ive had and it was on a farm in south va and i wish i knew its history problaly had it rough
