New Norton reliabilty

I have not been on the forum in a long while & i am just wondering if there have been any issues with the new 961 Nortons released in the last couple of years?

Not that I've heard of, mine has been totally reliable.. so far. Its got a 2 year warranty so not too concerned in any case.

Mine has been 100% faultless so far.

I hope this continues when the weather improves and I start riding it…

I was wondering does the new 961 have the old catch bottle drain from the airbox mounted behind the left peg?
Does it also have the screen on the oil feed line from the tank to the oil pump?
How about the plastic air/oil separator behind the cylinders?

I've got a 961 purchased new in January 2024. Now done 3500 miles. I had an issue with the idle control valve sticking which resulted in a failure to idle. Engine would stop a few seconds after closing the throttle when not moving. Fixed under warrantly. Only took the Norton mechanics at the factory 20 minutes to do while I had a coffee. Otherwise all good.
Incidentally, the new Nortons don't have the EVAP system fitted.

Yes, but now held in place with a spring clip, not cable tie.
Yes, but now fitted the other way up.
Yes, still has the Yamaha copy AOS, but from what I've seen, they're now fitted the other way up...which I've started copying with customers bikes.

Most euro 4 Donington bikes that leave my workshop, also no longer have the evap system fitted. It looks crap and does sod all. Bin fodder.

As I've seen both......which way up is the "other" way up?

The Norton TSB ( Donington ) and Yamaha parts list show it the original way up. As shown in this photo :

It seems to make sense to have the funnel shape facing back to the crankcase to facilitate oil draining back when you stop the engine .

my 2016 California lost it’s catch bottle during trip to Euro rally last weekend, so now drips a bit when parked. Where to buy a replacement, and best way to attach it?

There should be a bracket and a zip tie was used to attach it.
