I’v e been to the bike show today at the NEC in Birmingham. I has a look at the Norton stand, they have a new adventure style model, around 500cc, and it looks like it’s been built down to a price. The fit and finish was rubbish as was the quality of components like the switch gear. The most disappointing thing I’ve seen for a long time,
There were plenty of the new Chinese bikes at the show and mostly they looked better built than the Norton, the Norton rep explained that the shareholders wanted a return and a mid range bike was deemed the best way forward… As with the other old British names these bikes are built by companies that have bought the redundant name and that’s the only link to the past, there’s no lineage and for me, looking at what I’ve seen today, that can only be a good thing.
