The Norton Rally that was held in Mancos at Echo Basin?

I wanted to attend but some guy from the Norton Colorado Club told me that it would cost me $25 just to come in and look at the bikes.
I said screw that and went for a ride instead.
I ended up seeing quite a few of the bikes at Blondies in Cortez - (for free)

Speaking of events, is there a calender or thread that lists upcoming ralleys or shows on here? It would be cool to put some faces to the names and ride with some likeminded folks. Im new here, so maybe I just haven't stumbled across it yet. If not, I think it would be a good idea.

ludwig, there are some back roads in California that are very entertaining in addition to being scenic. You have to know about them though, you won't find them on a tour guide. The scenery is nice, but it can't quite live up to the Alps or the Dolomites.

I'd love to come over there and ride some time. If only air travel wasn't so expensive and difficult these days. :?

Debbie's right you have to know where to go, or find /happen upon the cool ones. Looking into a road between mokolemne hill and mountainranch called JesusMaria. Looks promising, just the name makes me want to ride it. Google earth is awesome! Too bad the resolution isn't better. Ill let you know how holy (get it? Holey!) It really is, will be checking it out this weekend. Looks like a good 75 to 100 miles round trip. 8)

I bet that nobody here has heard of it but
Mattole Road could very well be the Best motorcycle road in California if they would just repair / repave the bad spots.

Northern or southern cali? What county? If its near me ill check it out. Highway 35 south of the bay is very popular. Unfortunately the CHP like it too.

Cool! Was kinda thinking of something similar. I just have to sit down and learn how to post pictures.

Welcome to the forum Chris. As I'm sure you have already experienced, this is the place for the best online norton stuff anywhere, and some real cool cats, and kitties.

For the past two weeks at sea level days have been in the upper 70's, with just a touch of light rain at night... lately I've going through my share of 50w over here.

keep the rubber on the ground, and cheers

Don

Ludwig that sounds like a great idea, Also good to see they got the camera working on the mountain. That picture at night really looks good! Thanks, Chuck.

Welcome to a great place to be at.Good to hear there is still some Combats left over there in the U.S.OF.A. I thought they must have all been sent over here by now. I wish you guys would hang onto them as the dealers over here have been are having a feast for the last few years, buying up every thing they can get their greasy little fingers on, shipping em home to Oz and making a killing. Norton Commandos' have risen in value in Oz at about $1200.00 a year for the last ten years. Any way welcome mate, I too live in wine country in South Aust.... It will soon be harvest (vintage), which means BEES. Got my first reminder yesturday, just under the helmet strap!!!

Me a friend drove the Mattole Road to the lost cost on several windsurf adventures. Absolutely spectacular! The Petrolia/Honeydew Road back to Ferndale was also a treat.

Eureka! Now I know where you're talking about! It's real nice up there. I'll have to add that to the list. Could be a good weekender.

Just read Ludwig's post this morning, and no less than 2 hours later, purely by chance, came across the same road from the same vantage point, but a different photo. Having never seen the location before in my life, what would be the odds?

It was actually the one captioned Val Tremola. I'm not surpised you can't seeit. I tried doing this at work and Photobucket (and Youtube, for that matter), is not allowed by the firewall they use, even though I can get on the actual Photobucket website easy enough. Go figure. I'll repost tonight at home and should have better luck with it, and take a look at the video. I'm copying the names you mentioned to research and would love to ride them some day.
