Just got this 73 850 with some Dunstall goodies. 10800 miles on the clock, owner said it had a "950 kit" but i don't believe that to be true and he had no documentation to support it. It runs, needs to be cleaned up
new tires etc....currently debating over a rolling resto or taking it all the way down. Love the gas tank, mixed feelings about the seat.

Congratulations useful!

It looks like it is pretty much all there awaiting restoration.

As you go along please keep us informed and ask ask ask!

Dang ole long dong Megaphones look obscene too. I've heard held seen a 940 out a 850 barrel but not a 950. I'd hope it isn't.

Welcome.

Looks like a somewhat Dunstallized 850. i like the 2-1-2 PowerPipe.

yep those cans are destined for the trash heap. I would think if it did have some sort of bore kit in it, the owner would have had some documentation. He gave me a bunch of old britts receipts for things like throttle cable, assorted gaskets/bolts etc, but not a word on motor work. It's definitely the factory barrel.

What? Are they rusted out? They are awesome!

not sure if you're joking or not but nice peashooters are in this bike's future

there is some surface rust in the back, and the right pipe has a couple little dents

The Dunstalls sound awesome, especially if they are a little rusted out inside. I think with the Dunstall 2 into 1 they may stick out a wee far.

That exhaust system looks like the Dr. Blair 2 in to 1 into 2 Norton marketed in the early seventies as a performance upgrade.

It did come with the Dunstalls if I remember, and I did buy one for my 72 Combat in 1973, I think around $150 for the complete system back then?

I was 22 and a room service waiter at a big hotel back then, but I could still hoard my tips and buy stuff for my Norton!

If I remember right they were claiming around a 5 hp increase with that exhaust system and recommended going a bit richer on the main jets and maybe lifting the needle one notch for the mid range back then.

Seriously, the problem I had with it was that there was no center stand!

Otherwise, it was way cool.

Welcome & nice bike. That's funny, at 22 I spent a year doing room service in a hotel next to Disneyland in California & rode my Norton P11 until some jerk in a hot rod Camero took me out like a bowling pin when he came around a two lane mountain road sideways in a bend around a lake. I saw him coming so I tried to pass him on the outside by going into his lane but he still taged me. I slid under a chain link fence & almost into the lake. The bike wasn't hurt to bad & I fixed it up and sold it to finance my first Commando, a 71 / 72 Dunstalized 750 that handled & ran realy well thanks to some parts & help from the late master Nortonian Jorge J, from the famed H.P.I. well hope you enjoy your bike & welcome again.
