New Commando book from NOC

I bought a copy (at the third attempt) various errors and omissions spotted so far such as 212978 being the first Interstate (page 195). I've also seen 212278 in various books listed as first Interstate that is also incorrect.

But what's the general impression of the book - worth buying or not?
I'll be visiting the UK this spring, so thinking of buying a copy then to avoid the rather high p&p charges.

Seems to be quite a few copy/paste errors - I have noticed whole sections repeated but slightly altered. Entertaining so far though.

Yes, buy in UK to avoid shipping and EU import duty. It's reasonably heavy too.

That number is all over the place and as far as I can tell it's because parts manual 065034 says "Covering "850" and "750" models after engine number 212278" and it includes Interstate parts. But then, parts manual 065034 (Probably 1972) also shows Interstate parts and appears to be a earlier manual covering only 750s. Parts manual 101/71 does not include Interstate parts and appears to cover 1971.

The 1972 brochure shows the Interstate

In my survey, the earliest two bike that the owner said were originally interstates are 202309 and 202322.

So, do you have anything that shows when they were actually introduced? I'm guessing very early on in 200xxx.

The Combat engine was supposed to have been introduced on the production line at 200976 so in theory that should be the start of the Interstate as all '72 Interstates to 211110 were Combats. As the Combat engine ended at 211110 neither 212978 or 212278 could have been first Interstate.

I ordered/paid for one on January 19th…and have not received it. I sent 3 messages but 0 response. Guess I’ll have to ask PayPal for a refund☹️

I'm in the UK and it took a couple of weeks and it comes via PO, so there's no tracking or alerts - it just drops in your post box, a few days after you've given up any hope of getting it.

To be fair, the weather has been causing quite a few delays.

I'd sit tight for a while, I'm sure it will turn up 🤞

It took me three goes to order mine and even though I got a receipt the first time for some reason the debit card transaction didn't go through. I did however receive an email from them saying they'd been having problems with PayPal payments although I'd used my debit card each time.
