Hi all, I've just bought a 2011 Norton Commando Sport with 3000 miles on the clock.

Is there anything I should be aware of? Any important maintenance points?

I've already noticed it doesn't like a cold start, normally takes 2-3 attempts and then left at idle for a couple of minutes

Thanks

Jonathan

Welcome to the group. Where are you located ( I am assuming the UK by the "Clock" reference)?

It will take an evening of reading, but there is some great information in this section of the forum. I learned a lot about the 961's before my purchase by reading the topics. Since my purchase I have become aware of several issues that you have to keep an eye on (read the air box drain thread)

Good luck with your Sport

John

First things first matey... You need a new jacket !!

Welcome the club, Spartan. They do seem to have their fair share of problems. Mine (same as yours, 2013) needed a new gearbox at 1000K, the crank case seam leaks some oil from between the 2 halves, (I have 2 old Truimph Bonnies, so to me, its quite normal even if it isn't) and my fuel gauge blinks intermittently (as long as it doesn't come on solid with a half tank, I'm cool with it). The starter from cold starts with a pretty loud THWACK, still waiting for something to break there with my fingers crossed. Cold starts for me aren't too bad. I just crack the throttle ever so slightly while starting. Hey. The thing looks great, sounds great, handles great and gets a WHOLE lot of attention since there are probably 40 or less in the U.S. of A. I'm the coolest kid in school everywhere I go. I just did a 60 mile run in about 40 minutes. You do the math. Meanwhile, I can't this shit eatin' grin off of my face. The bikes a blast and I'm prepared to take my lumps if need be. Hopefully, a 2011 with 3 grand on the dial has the kinks worked out. It's the perfect blend of old school thump and modern performance. Pretty much what most of us old boys have been waiting all these years for. Good luck and have fun. 8) P.S. At least the brother has a cool Tee Shirt, BritTwit.
