(I´m not sure this is the right forum, feel free to move it.) So, I´ve searched "everywhere" for a pair of extended fork stanchions for a Roadholder fork, no luck. Seems like I´m 30 years too late....But I´ve had contact with a small company in London who makes stanchions for all kind of bikes, and he´ll make a pair for me. My problem is that he want´s me to send him a stanchion so he can make a template, and this will cost me around £ 80-85 (I´m in Sweden), so that´s where the "Londoner" comes in:). Is there anyone here who lives in the London area (I know it´s big) who has a worn out stanchion that´s been left in a corner and been forgotten and could consider dropping it off at this company? They are located in Greenwich, at the Off Tunnel Avenue. I will of course pay for the stanchion and compensate for any other costs. The company is called ABE (All bike engineering), if anyone has any positive or negative to say about them, it would be appreciated.

Hi

I have an old stanchion from my Mk3 that I could send them. If we use an courier company like Yodel guess it would cost around £10 send me a message.

Hi Fiatfan
Happy to help. I have old fork tubes I know not why?
However a suggestion?
I many years ago brought the remains of a chopper, the front forks had been adapted with slugs. Fork leg tube connected with an internal sleeve. The join was in the middle of the bottom yoke so you could not see it.
An extra 6inches lol wow!

I am sure there must be some local engineering shop in your country who would make a pair of stanchions.

Someone like Dresda know all about Road holders stanchion and can make them to order if you ask Dave nicely - they just need your Specifications.

That's a bit long for slugs to be safe in my opinion
Cheers

I´ve thought about that too, but it doesn´t feel ok, maybe I´d have done it "back in the day" but now...nope.

Frank is the guy, for those over length tubes.
Been doing it since the chopper craze the first time around.
Phone orders only. Reliable service, top quality. He has all the drawings on hand, no reverse engineering required.
I´ve tried, but no was the anwer....

You´d think, but the problem is that I can´t find a company who can take on the whole process, I´ll have to talk to several companies, one doing one bit, next does the next bit and so on, and then there´s the cost....can´t get close to the price ABE can make them for, so.....they already have the whole process going since they make fork tubes.

Wow, one can only imagine what that thing would be like at speed around a bumpy bend...

Life is funny! I tried for over a year to get rid of a pair of good stanchions with the needed adapters that were 8" extended. My final eBay offering was $1+shipping. No interest whatever. Also tried to give them away at a couple of shows - no interest. I got $1 at the metal recycler about a week ago!

Meanwhile, back at the thread :(..,

ABE have been around a long while and started out as AllBike Breakers and I think have morphed into Allbike spares (which is still going), and now have Allbike engineering as a sister business.

Hope that helps fiatfan

Cheers,

cliffa ( a proper cockney sparra)
