I was given this by my father (my bike's original owner). He has no recollection of what it is, other than an Interstate tank. He bought is as a "spare", just in case. Now, if only he'd done that with another engine... The odd part about this whole thing is that it's not black like the bike he bought; rather, it's a dark blue with a fine metallic flake. Do the numbers on the box help give any clue to the color? I've had no luck breaking them down through the internet.

Not scratched; dust from the packaging material, and I'm not about to smear it with my dry, grubby mitt!

No, I will not sell it to you for $115, even if you were to pay the $4 for shipping!

That jives perfectly with what's in the box. Thanks much for your help!

I've refurbished a MkIIA tank which was the same colour. However it was plain blue, so perhaps the patina on yours may be giving the metallic effect?
I also had some NOS side panels in fibreglass which were the same dark blue colour gelcoat, also MkIIA specific

I recently bought an interstate tank of unknown origin, underneath the layers of DIY applied black paint was the original dark blue.

Same shade as the pic here, but as Andy says, it was a solid colour, sans flakes of any kind.
