I posted this on another board, but thought it rightfully belongs here given the fact that I spent the day on my Commando:

At last we've gotten some decent riding weather so took advantage for a ride in the back-county today. After seeing all of the nice posts from England with the nice villages and pubs, I thought I'd take my camera and take at least a couple of pictures. However, there are no pubs to stop in or to photograph. Barbaric as it may seem, alcohol sales are not permitted in most of the counties around my new home. Plenty of meth labs, but no pubs.

Anyhow, here's a couple of shots to give a flavor of the area:

The picture above was taken just off highway 90 outside of Glasgow Kentucky if I remember correctly.

The next one was taken along the same highway just short of Summer Shade. Nice little creek that was much more scenic than I could capture in the frame.

The old Norton ran like a top despite the indications of a really lean mixture. Looks like I have some carb fettling to do.

steve

now that you are closer you NEED to come over for the three state ride in may. or heck just come over for a ride any time.

Wonderful way to time our time away. I too hope to mimic you Steve with some scenic Ozark vista's. Kentucky has plenty of great rides and vistas of its own. Got a dang big cave I like too. hobot

Post away Steve. I made a memorable trip to Jefferson City Arkansas some years ago to buy a BSA Rocket Gold Star. Beautiful country there.

I've read that Arkansas has some of the greatest motorcycle roads in the country. We'll need to keep it quiet though lest it gets swamped like "The Dragon." Shhhhhh.

There are a few places that could give The Dragon some competition. Was on Hwy 62 today in cage and even that make me squeal in the 10-20 mph banked turns with no straights. This area leads right into Eureka Springs and many riders out enjoying it in fine spring temps but 30-40 mph winds. The almost official Arkansas Snake is Hwy 123, with signs that truck forbidden as can make the bends. Good and bad riders die there too often. I remember Kentucky as more long swooping than tight and technical but then didn't really get off main roads.

There are a good number of full size dinosaurs scattered about and one, if still open had life size dino's set out on land like a drive through safri place, but with men and women walking among them! So this summer plan to ride Trixie to them for a photo siries.

Every time I ride a Commando its an adventure. On my modern just a ho hum appliance ride punctuated by deer or goat death strikes to relieve the valve train buzz annoyance.
