The engine in the left side frame, the one with the Ohlins shocks, does look like the 920 I built for Steve. For anyone intrested, this is a summary of that build. Lots of good parts in there, if it is that engine.
SteveShiver's Commando Engine Build Details
Crankcases– Steve Maney, with Timeserts everywhere.
Crankshaft– Norton halves, steel flywheel from Ron Fraturelli, all welded and nitrided by Geoff Collins, journals ground .020" under. Straightened by Marine Crankshaft. Drilled two holes in flywheel and welded in threaded inserts to take 7/8" socket head set screws as weights to adjust balance factor. With no weights, as currently installed, BF is 61.2%. Two different sets of weights, one set shorter than the other, are included, that raise the balance factor to 74% and 80%, resp., when installed. Shafts are loose fit for bearings, so inner bearing races of new main bearings were copper plated for tighter fit. New Glacier .020" under rod bearings. Shimmed .010" on timing side for .008" end play. Installed with new mainshaft seal.
Rods– Carrillo long rods from Jim Schmidt, 6.400" c-c. Bots torqued to .0065" stretch, 35 ft-lb.
Pistons– Jim Schmidt JE high pin, short skirt, forged 920 cc kit, with rings (Total Seal) and pins. Cryo treated piston and rings at Controlled Thermal Processing. Had pistons coated with Swain Goldtop coat and PC-9 coat on skirts. Ring end gaps are .019"/.020"top ring and .031" second ring. Gap on second ring is not significant because of gapless design. Oil ring gaps are at least.030". Ring box has part number XC3189H, and statement "Gapless2nd ring in this box."
Cylinders– Steve Maney 920 cc 81 mm bore. Pistons are 3.1855" at the skirt. Honed cylinders to .0052/,0053" clearance at top and.0059" at bottom, for intentional taper, with final plateau hone. Timeserts installed.
Head– 750 ported head supplied by Steve, converted to 850 head bolt pattern and counterbores opened up for 920 cc 81 mm bore diameter. Valves are 7 mm stem, and use lash caps. Made custom front studs, and fitted Timeserts to all three studs.
Cam– Megacycle 560 NDP 06-07. Fitted with .021" shim to give.007" end play. Timed with intake lobe center at 106 degrees.
Pushrods– Custom LCR .100" shorter than stock.
Oilpump has new rubber seal.
