Has anybody using a MotoBatt MBTX14AU AGM battery in a MK3 electric start? If so, how is the battery tray fit, and ability to power a stock, but properly operating, starter?

Lots of new AGM battery choices out there.... Any other battery suggestions that are playing nice in an Electric Start???
Cheers, Jeff

Well , I can't recommend the Motomaster Eliminator AGM EtX15 much .. died after 15 months . Bought another one , as I have no access to better batteries . Vibration kills Lead -acid batteries . Norton . The MK 111 needs cranking Amps .
I'd like to make a support pad full of springs , for the next season . My new J.S. engine , long rods , short pistons , will have less vibrations . Fire it up in 3 days for the first time . After the trout fishing day tomorrow , of course . In an S.U.V.
Enjoy .

I don't understand, the battery should not be vibrating much on any Commando. The engine, yes but not the battery or anything else on the bike other than the engine/trans. The isos should take care of that battery and everything around it.

Oh , there's vibrations everywhere . Felt through handlegrips , footpegs , rev. up the bike and watch the tail light hop .

I have just replaced the very battery in my MK3, it was 9 years old and fitted the battery tray rubber mat perfectly dimension wise. The only thing I didn't like about the MotoBatt is the cheesy battery terminal connections & yellow colour but it did spin up the bike easily.
I have purchased Super Start Battery with a 310 CCA spec but the same dimension size as the MotoBatt to give that brand a try.

If you are also considering Lithium batteries, I can thoroughly recommend NOCO products. I have their NLP 14 in my 961 and it spins it over with gusto. They come with great terminal choices, and a range of spacers to suit different applications.

Have a look in Jimbos thread, I posted a link to the Super Start battery I purchased. 👍

Something seems wrong/unhappy with the isos there. I have the 850 and the 920. Both go smooth as glass over 3000 rpm. Mirrors are clear at 70 mph. Yes there are vibes at low rpm so I don't do much low rpm.
The batteries on the 850 have lasted for a reasonable length of time, 6 years for the last Yuasa. The biggest problem I have with batteries is if I forget to trickle charge the battery once or twice during winter storage. These little batteries won't forgive that. One pull down to under 10 v and they are done.

I have used two of them over the years, got 7 years out of my last one.
A good fit and spins well, but I do have a Dyno Dave starter in mine.

Dyno Dave starter on mine as well - I had a good run out of the MotoBatt on the MK3, probably the best I have ever had out of any brand but I have had not so good runs with other MotoBatts.
