I'm a little concerned that the distance from the front pulley and the edge of the crankshaft taper has no support. There is no room for the Norton spacer with the relief (similar to the one behind the clutch basket)
I believe this is an RGM kit but no response from them. The instruction sheet (hand-drawn) shows a spacer but I don't know the actual look of it. The outer part of the ID in the pulley is not tapered. Everything else looks just right, am I a nervous nancy?

Could you post a photo of your set up ?

I did not bother with a belt drive, From experience, I know a single-row chain will last more than 6 race meetings, if it gets a squirt of chain lube before each one. I use a Manx clutch with Jawa speedway engine sprockets. If I need to change gearing, I just pop the clip , replace the sprocket and adjust the chain. The Jawa sprockets float on a splined carrier, so alignment is not a problem. The carrier off the Jawa bike probably fits the Norton crank, but I had one made - plus the puller. Jawa sprockets are as cheap as chips.
Manx Nortons used to use single row primary chains on the IOM - 6 laps of 37 miles each ?

Al on the road we do more miles than 6 laps of 37 miles, my original triplex chain lasted over 80k miles, went with a RGM belt drive for a few years but have gone back to triplex chain (Renolds) not sure how long that will last as they not as good as the old ones the next one will be from the chainman.

That spacer is not going to work, what I need would go in the bore of the pulley. I can't get a picture to post for me. It's .550 that would need to be supported in that area. I suppose once its all tightened together it may not matter.
You have to be a VIP member to post pictures, get rid of ads, and much more. Highly recommended and well worth the tiny money required.

I'm sure others are like me and cannot visualize what you are saying - in my mind, there can be no gap when putting a tapered pully on a tapered shaft - at least not a gap that will require filling.
